It’s not the price of the parts. It’s the labor cost due to crazy engineering designs.

The corvette ended with the C7. Without 3 pedals, it Can Not be a corvette without a manual, period. The Ford GT has a manual, no excuses accepted. Almost ¼ of new vette drivers want a real transmission. That's more than enough.

Don't be crap faced before getting into that car.

Really enjoyed this vid and hearing about Lyle's story regarding his Corvette journey and the book that changed his life here in this temporal existence and brought him so much joy. Very cool! God has blessed him indeed and I pray the blessings keep coming for him. Even though the 'Vette I drive is a red C4 coupe, I would no doubt enjoy reading it. I know of an even better book though that can change a person's life forever and bring eternal, everlasting joy and it's known as The Bible. It's God's love letter of rescue and salvation to us, his creation, besides being THE best selling book of all time. It explains our sin problem and our need for a Savior in King Jesus Christ who died to pay the price for our transgressions against our all holy Heavenly Father and rose again to conquer death thus making a way for us to eternal life in Him (as opposed to eternal death in Hell). Such GOOD NEWS (aka, The Gospel) that it's THE BEST news ever! Remember, no matter what temporal joy and pleasures this broken world may bring, Jesus IS better! He, King Jesus, saved me from me and I know he can save you from you.

On #5: a foggy day i ran over a half of a semi tire on the interstate. $7000 insurance claim. Tore up that entire assembly, radiator, pulled the nut right out if the aluminum frame.... I do wish that frame work was a little higher or the approach angle was better.

May be a dumb question but is there a speed that the AFM activates?

I am contemplating between a 96 lt4 and a 92 ZR1. Both were very well naintained with under 60k miles. The zr1 is $3000 more. Is it worth getting the zr1 from the factors of: investment, fun, maintenance costs?

Loved the story, Lyle. I worked at a corvette dealership in San Diego during the early 90's and didn't actually get paid money, but got parts I needed in exchange. I loved working there and being around different year Corvettes. Keep these podcasts coming. Love every one.

Lyle, I agree, it is one of the best historical (and poliyical) books on the Corvette ever! Until you've read it, no amount of discussion can prepare you for the vast differences between the C4 and C5 models.

He forgot to mention also the 01-04 has 350 horsepower and the 97-2000 has 345. Won’t be able to tell difference but thought I would mention. My 2000 has 65k on it owned it 19 years. So far just a radiator water pump and a few faulty door wires that made the lights all come on. Going up for sale soon for a c7

The radiator in the c6 corvette are one core and plastic ends they are junk I put a Dewitte radiator in my z06 and it runs 20 degrees !!!!!!

Lyle, I really enjoyed your broadcast on "When to but a Corvette". You brought up some really valid points, but the one that really hit home, with me, was nobody is promised tomorrow! I wanted one all my life. At age 12 I fanaticized about owning a corvette while watching "Route 66" on tv. I retired at 62 and life was life, things got hurried and blurred, I put it off. I finally had the money and found I couldn't "justify" spending that money when other people were hungry and etc. I realized at 70 and being diagnosed with a formidable illness that it was now or never. I didn't buy a new one ,although I could afford it. I rationalized buy giving to some charities and bought a c6. A red convertable that for the past three years has been like an old friend. Thank you for all your videos and advise. This was spot on, at least for me. Bii phelps

Question - I have two original corvette doors from 1978 to 1982. Can you let me know how I'd know how much these would be worth? They are not in the bet condition, and I can send in pictures. My father passed away, and I am trying to decide if they are worth paying to ship across country as I am emptying out my parents house. Ps, I know they are original b/c my father owns a 1965 corvette and he used to do a lot of car shows. Be bought the doors in the 90s and they've been in the garage for more than 20 years.

My first Corvette was a second hand ‘67 convertible Corvette which followed with a ‘78 ( got it stolen in less than one week after purchasing brand new) I replaced it with a new ‘79 Corvette. My wife convinced me to sell it when the price of gas started going through the roof. After that I was forced to look at “normal” cars for a daily ride. I’m just short of 80 years old. Still miss each of my Corvettes. Once bitten, it never goes away.

I got a C4 Corvette convertible 1986 for sale 3k Pensacola Florida need a flywheel and the trim for the top I got a brand new vinyl top for it has brand new tires on it

Decided to check out the book after watching this. Didnt think I would be able to find it here in the UK but managed to find an as new first edition hardback with dust cover for £19! Just waiting for the postman now.

Outside of torque tube rebuild, any other aftermarket improvements I should consider for long term health here?

I just knew that was the book you were going to mention. I vividly remember when that book was released- I was deployed to the Mediterranean on a submarine (USS ATLANTA SSN-712) and couldn't get a copy. I forgot about it after the deployment, and didn't get a copy until I purchased my '01 Corvette convertible- a great book for any Corvette enthusiast. Interesting that book got your foot in the door in the Corvette world!

Great story! I’ll keep it super short, but my Corvette journey started in 1963, when I was 9 years old, and my mom bought me an AMT (remember those?) model of a 63 Sting Ray. I fell in love with that car, read everything I could about it and subsequently owned 7 Vettes, from 1978 to 2019. Thanks for rekindling those days!

Lyle, this is a great story!! Thank you for sharing it with us! My dad was a car guy and responsible for making me a car guy. But he never actually had a really cool car. The closest he got was a cream-colored '65 Mustang Coupe ... with a straight six (sigh). On the other hand, his brother (my uncle) had a '63 C2 convertible (!! so close to being a split window !!). Later, he had a C4 convertible. Besides the cars, he was still my favorite uncle. A year and a half ago, I bought my first Corvette (C7 GS), and I think of my dad and my uncle almost every time I look at it.

Great story Lyle and the 63 split window solidified my love for the Corvette too and I’ve had the pleasure of owning 7 so far. Thank you for sharing your story. Ps - I own the book and enjoyed the story very much. 👍🚗🇺🇸

What a fascinating story! I called C&S Corvette last year when having a problem with my head lights. Lyle answered the phone, to my surprise, and was so helpful. What a great guy.
